Installing Your
Glue Down 3mm Foam Backing BentGrass Putting Green
Installing Your BentGrass Putting Green From Artificial Turf and Putting Greens doesn't require you to have a
green thumb. You don't have to be a greens-keeper or have special
equipment. Most of the tools required for the installation process
you probably already own.
Using the glue down method, you will be gluing the 3mm closed cell
foam backing green directly to the subfloor or concrete.
Use a high quality outdoor carpet adhesive (Follow the manufacturer's
recommendations with regards to trowel type (notch size), spread coverage
and open working time.
Note: You might have to etch newer concrete
to insure adhesion. (Ask your
adhesive supplier)
Layout the putting green as it will be installed. Making sure all seams
are flush and all cuts are done with a sharp utility knife to insure
quality cuts (change your blades often).
Starting on one side of the room, roll back and temporarily secure each
section of green. Ensure all putting green pieces are weighted or nailed
down so that they do not shift when you roll them back.
Use the
recommended notch
trowel to spread the adhesive onto the subfloor or concrete.
(Remember -
follow manufacturer's recommendations on trowel type, spread coverage
and open working time.
Unroll each section of putting green and lay into the glue. Ensure the
carpet is firmly in contact with the adhesive.
Use a push broom to sweep the putting green to push out any air bubbles.
Broom widthwise and lengthwise
Use a carpet roller (35 lbs +) to roll the newly installed section, if
needed. Rolling your green should help with any *undulations you might
have added under your putting green. (*use recommended patch materials
to build slight undulations under green).
Repeat Steps 2 through 6 for the other half of the room.
Allow
the adhesive to set and dry completely according to the manufacturer's
guidelines. This usually takes between 24–48 hours.
Special Notes:
* Ask your local DIY center to help you selection the right product to
use to build up undulations on the particular sub-base material that you
are going to be gluing your new bentgrass green to.
